If you want cinematic AI shots for YouTube, ads or short-form video, three names keep coming up: Kling AI from Kuaishou, Hailuo AI from MiniMax, and Higgsfield, a platform that bundles many video models, including Kling and Hailuo, under one subscription. This comparison works out what a 5-second clip really costs on each, and covers clip length, resolution, commercial rights and refunds, so you can decide whether to buy Kling or Hailuo directly or use them through Higgsfield.

Funova currently has affiliate relationships with Higgsfield and Hailuo AI (since October 11, 2026), not with Kling; all three are compared on their official pricing pages, guides and terms, checked on October 9, 2026. All three change prices and promotions often, so check before you buy.
Verdict
- Choose Kling if you mostly use one model and want 4K, native audio and lip-synced dialogue in the clip, at the lowest entry price (about $6.60/month billed yearly).
- Choose Hailuo if you like MiniMax’s motion style and need many reference images for consistent characters; read its commercial-use terms first.
- Choose Higgsfield if you want to try several models (Kling, Hailuo, Seedance, Veo, Sora and more) from one credit wallet, with camera-move presets and ad tools, and can live with credits that expire monthly.

Clip costs are our estimates from plan prices and official credit tables, before failed generations. In practice you will often generate three to five takes to get one usable shot.
Kling AI: 4K, native audio and lip-synced dialogue
Kling 3.0 makes clips of up to 15 seconds from text or images, with start and end frames, multi-shot storyboards and element references that keep characters consistent. Its standout is audio and lip-synced dialogue generated inside the clip, in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Paid plans add 1080p and 4K, remove branding and include commercial use. Kling has announced Kling 4.0, currently in early access on the yearly Ultra plan only.
Watch out for: plan credits expire after 31 days, fees are non-refundable once a plan is active, and users often complain about credits lost on failed generations.
Hailuo AI: many references, priced per second
Hailuo’s newest model, H3, makes 4 to 15 second clips at 768p or 2K, with “Omni Reference” accepting up to 12 reference images for characters and scenes. Hailuo 2.3 remains available for 6-second clips at 768p or 1080p. Paid plans also include lip sync, music and audio tools, and failed generations are not charged.
Important: Hailuo’s FAQ says watermark-free downloads are yours to use commercially, but its terms of service (last updated August 19, 2026) say “personal, non-commercial use only” and forbid removing AI labels. If you make ads for clients, get written confirmation from Hailuo first. Refunds are not supported, and reviewers frequently report being billed after cancelling.

Higgsfield: many models, one credit wallet
Higgsfield has its own tools (Soul images, DoP camera moves, Cinema Studio, an ad maker) and also runs Kling, Hailuo, Seedance, Veo, Sora, Wan and others from the same credits. On its credit table, a 5-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p costs about 7 credits, roughly $0.27 on the Plus plan, which is cheaper per clip than Kling’s own plans. The trade-offs: the cheapest Starter plan has only 200 credits and not every model, credits expire each cycle, and “unlimited” offers are time-limited and run in a slower queue. Full details in our Higgsfield review.
Which should you choose?
- Regular short videos on a budget: Kling Standard billed yearly is the cheapest way in.
- Consistent characters across shots: try Hailuo H3 (many references) and Kling 3.0 (element references) on their free tiers.
- Comparing several models before committing: Higgsfield Plus, monthly first.
- Narration in another language: generate the shots, then voice them separately; see our ElevenLabs review and best AI dubbing tools.
Tips that apply to all three: write prompts in English (subject, action, setting, lighting, camera angle), draft at 720p and upscale only the shots you keep, and check whether checkout is set to monthly or yearly before entering your card.
FAQ
Is it cheaper to use Kling through Higgsfield?
Per clip, yes on Higgsfield Plus at current credit rates, but Plus costs more per month than Kling Standard. If you only use Kling, buying directly is usually simpler; if you use several models, Higgsfield is worth a look.
Can I use free-tier clips commercially?
No. All three watermark free output, and Kling states free output is not for commercial use. For Hailuo, even the paid terms conflict on commercial use.
Which has the longest clips?
Kling 3.0 and Hailuo H3 both reach 15 seconds; through Higgsfield, Seedance 2.5 in Cinema Studio reaches 30 seconds.
Do any of them offer refunds?
Kling and Hailuo do not. Higgsfield refunds only within 7 days of the first purchase and only if you have used no credits.
