Systeme.io Review 2026: Free Plan Limits and Getting Paid Outside Stripe Countries

Systeme.io review 2026: free plan limits and getting paid outside Stripe countries

Systeme.io puts landing pages, email sequences, online courses, a community and an affiliate program in one account, with a free plan that never expires. For a creator in the US or Western Europe that is the whole story. For creators in countries where Stripe is not available, three questions decide whether it works: can you actually take payments, can you send email from your own address, and what will your students see if your audience does not speak one of Systeme’s interface languages. We opened a free account on October 11, 2026, built a test opt-in funnel, a test course with an automation rule and a test student, and checked each of these questions against Systeme’s own pages.

Some links in this review are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you upgrade through them, at no extra cost to you. We built test funnels and a test course on the free plan but have not sold anything or sent a campaign to a real list, so this review gives no score. Prices, limits and terms were checked on Systeme’s pricing page, terms and help center on October 11, 2026.

Verdict

  • Best for: creators who want an opt-in page, an email sequence and a course in one place without connecting five tools, and who own a domain.
  • Standout: a genuinely usable free plan: 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, 3 funnels, 1 course, 0% transaction fees.
  • Watch out for: sending email requires an authenticated custom domain; taking payments requires a supported gateway in your country; the free plan stops selling after USD 10,000 lifetime revenue; paid plans are not refundable.
  • Price: Free, then $17, $47 or $97 a month ($170, $470 or $970 a year).

The free plan is generous on contacts and email volume but tight on structure: one sequence, one automation rule and one tag. The pricing page also contradicts itself on students: one block says every plan has unlimited students, while the comparison table and FAQ say the free plan allows 500. We use 500.

Terms worth reading first

  • No refunds: the terms say subscription plans are not refundable.
  • Free plan revenue cap: USD 10,000 in lifetime sales (affiliate commissions excluded, other currencies converted to USD). After that you get 3 days to upgrade, then payment pages stop taking new orders. You are not charged automatically.
  • Automatic upgrades on paid plans: if you exceed a paid plan’s limits, you get 3 days to reduce usage, then Systeme upgrades you and bills the new plan for the rest of the period.

Getting paid when Stripe is not available in your country

Systeme lets you set a funnel’s currency to almost anything; our test funnel accepted Vietnamese dong. But a currency is not a payment method. When we added a digital product to an order form, Systeme refused to create a price plan until a payment gateway was connected.

Systeme.io asks to connect a payment gateway before a price plan can be created
No gateway, no price plan, no order form (our test product used a Vietnamese name).

The account offers 11 gateways. Each has its own rules about where the merchant account is registered, according to Systeme’s help center:

Gateway Merchant account must be in Notes
Stripe A Stripe-supported country 46 currencies. In Asia-Pacific, Stripe’s own list (checked October 11, 2026) covers Australia, Hong Kong, India (preview), Indonesia (preview), Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand only.
PayPal No restriction stated (Business account) 25 currencies, subscriptions supported. Your local currency may not be on the list, so you may have to price in USD.
Xendit Indonesia or the Philippines IDR, or PHP and USD.
Razorpay India Subscriptions in INR only.
Flutterwave An African country Many African currencies plus USD, EUR, GBP; refunds off by default.
Mercado Pago Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia or Mexico One country per Systeme account; currency must match the account country.
Cash on delivery Anywhere Physical products only, not courses.

If none of the regional gateways covers you, there are two practical routes:

  1. PayPal in USD. Works if your buyers have PayPal or international cards, which is often true for international audiences and less often for local ones.
  2. Local bank transfer outside Systeme, then enroll the buyer manually. Take payment the way your buyers already pay, then add them as a student. This is what we tested.

Enrolling a student manually

One step the help article does not mention: a new course starts as Inactive, and the “Add student” button stays disabled until you activate it (Courses list, “…” menu, Activate). After that, you enter the buyer’s name and email and pick an access type.

Access types: Full access, Drip content, Partial access, Partial access with drip.

Systeme then emails the student “Important: Your access to training” with a link to set a password. In our test it landed in the Gmail inbox, not spam. The email is in English, and Systeme’s help center says its content cannot currently be changed, so send your own short message in the buyer’s language as well.

Sending email requires your own authenticated domain

This is the requirement most likely to surprise a beginner. We added our sender address and Systeme marked it Verified, yet the campaign form still offered no sender. Systeme’s reason: the address’s domain must be authenticated before it can send. The help center calls domain authentication mandatory (updated August 25, 2026) and states that @gmail.com senders have not been allowed since July 16, 2024.

To authenticate you need a domain with an active website, then add the three CNAME records and one DMARC record Systeme generates, and confirm a sender address on that domain. A domain can be authenticated in only one Systeme account. The free plan includes one custom domain, so this is possible on Free, but you need to own a domain and be comfortable editing DNS. System emails such as course access emails still go out without it, from an address on Systeme’s transactional domain.

Languages: what you and your students see

The dashboard has 28 interface languages, including Thai, Indonesian, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic and Ukrainian. The course “Language” setting, which controls the default buttons and labels students see, uses the same list. If your audience’s language is not on it (Vietnamese is not, for example), students will see default labels in English or another listed language, plus whatever text you write yourself. Text you type, including diacritics, displayed correctly in our test.

A free-plan funnel that fits the limits

With one rule, one sequence and one tag, keep the first funnel simple. What we built and what the docs describe:

  1. Authenticate your domain and confirm a sender address on it.

  2. Create the course or lead magnet and activate it.

  3. Create a “Build an audience” funnel. Systeme creates an opt-in page and a thank-you page; pick a template and rewrite the copy.

  4. Add one automation rule with several actions. Trigger “Funnel step form subscribed”, actions “Enroll in course” and “Subscribe to campaign”. One rule can hold multiple actions, which is what makes the free plan workable.

Systeme.io automation rule: when a contact subscribes through the opt-in form, enroll them in a course
Our test rule: form subscribed, then Enroll in course with full access.
  5. Write a 5 to 7 email sequence that delivers the gift, teaches one small thing per email and ends with your paid offer.

  6. Sell through PayPal or a regional gateway, or by bank transfer plus manual enrollment.

When to upgrade to Startup

  • You need a second sequence (for example, buyers versus subscribers) or more than one automation rule.
  • You pass 2,000 contacts or 500 students, or want a second course.
  • Your free-plan sales are approaching USD 10,000.

FAQ

Is Systeme.io really free?

Yes. The free plan does not expire and needs no card: 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, 3 funnels and 1 course. The main limits are one sequence, one automation rule and USD 10,000 in lifetime sales.

Can I use Systeme.io without Stripe?

Yes, through PayPal or a regional gateway if your country is covered (Xendit, Razorpay, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago), or by taking payment outside Systeme and enrolling buyers manually.

Can I send emails from a Gmail address?

No. Systeme has not allowed @gmail.com senders since July 16, 2024, and domain authentication is required to send email.

Does Systeme.io offer refunds?

No. The terms say subscription plans are not refundable, so stay on the free plan until you need a paid feature.
